In his most personal book Michael Martin is “talking backstage”. As a fifteen year old boy he started his career as “voyager” going to Morocco on his small moped. On his later travels Michael Martin has crossed Asia, Australia, the Americas and Africa, always in search of the most breathtaking desert countries. He has visited the famous Rub al-Khali, the Sinai Desert, the Great Sandy Desert, the Atacama region as well as the Kalahari and Namib deserts. Many of these “wastelands” consist of more than just desert sand. Lots of photographs are published here for the first time. But it’s more the story behind the story and behind the photographs that is in the centre of this book.
