Four-Thousanders in the Alps
The 30 best ascents you should know

It's not a real tour guide, but an appetizer to do some of these ascents after having read the book. The hype about these summits is not comparable to the hype about the summits higher than 8000 m – but they are achievable for and mostly can be mastered also by all the “Not-Messners” among us. The whole range of the Alps has about 80 summits higher than 4000 m. The most beautiful are selected for this book. The mountains and their respective myth are portrayed and gripping stories about some previous ascents are illustrated with spectacular photographs. The must for every serious mountaineer is of course the Mont Blanc or the Grandes Jorasses, but there are many other less famous peaks that are as satisfying as the classics. For all ascents maps and tour descriptions are provided that make climbing (but also sleeping and eating in refuges or alpine huts) controllable, though each tremendous challenge requires both fitness and determination to succeed.
  • 30 beautiful and classic ascents and insiders’ tips. With spectacular photographs of summits and vistas
  • Gripping reportages and specials about nature, culture and tradition
  • With practical information from one of the most renowned (nonprofessional) mountaineer
